 Official chART SMILE CONTEST Art & Writing Contest Rules:

                Deadline for Submitting Entries prior to chART magazine  publishing:    four issues publishing annually.
Eligibility is limited. See restrictions below.
               To Enter:
Eligible students may enter by submitting one original piece of artwork along with a properly completed and affixed entry form before the entry deadline to:

Entries may be mailed or may be hand-delivered to the lobby. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, damaged, illegible, misdirected or incomplete entries. Entry forms will be published periodically in the chART Magazine and can be printed from the website www.cut-edge.com.
    All artwork submitted must meet the following requirements or will not be judged.
    1. Art must be on white or similar light-colored paper that is no larger than 9x12 inches.
    2. Art must be in crayon, paint, pencil, ink, felt-tip pen or charcoal.
    3. Submissions may be matted but mats may not be larger than 12x16 inches.
    4. Properly completed entry forms must be affixed by tape to the back of the artwork.  Judges will read only the artist statement portion of the entry form.
   
5. The names of the school or student may not appear on the front. Sponsor will not accept for judging any photographs, computer-generated art, three-dimensional objects such as mobiles or sculptures, artwork with cotton, glitter or other materials affixed, or any other artwork that does not meet the requirements set forth above. The sponsor, magazine and advertising agency are not responsible for damage to artwork that may occur during the judging process.
    Except as otherwise provided in these rules, entries become property of Sponsor and will not be returned. By entering, contestants warrant that the artwork submitted is original and does not infringe the rights of any other person, contestants also consent to publication of the submitted artwork if it is selected as a winning entry.
    Judging:
All entries will be judged by a panel who will apply the following criteria: (1) interpretation of the SMILE theme, and (2) artistic and writing skill exhibited. One grand prize winner will be chosen in each of the following categories: ages 5-9, ages 10-14, ages 15-19. Judging will take place at advertising deadline for magazine. The decision of the judges are final.
    Winning Entries:
The winning entries in each age category will be published in chART Magazine.  Advertisers / sponsors may choose to provide prizes for winners.  Prizes will vary by contest dates and will be mailed to artist’s home address.
    Eligibility:
This contest is open to children who attend public, private, parochial or home schools in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake, Volusia, Polk, and Brevard counties. Winners agree to allow the use of their name, voice, photograph, likeness and any information including print, internet, radio and/or television and for any purpose, including advertising, promotional or other purposes by Sponsor and each of its affiliates without compensation.
    Miscellaneous:
Entrants agree to be bound by these rules. Sponsor is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. Names of winners will be published along with their winning artwork.
    Cancellation:  chART magazine and sponsor may choose to end promotion at any time without notice.
